Stats from the 15-month check-up

We saw Little Dude’s very nice doctor on Friday – an appointment that worked out perfectly since he was 15 months old that day.

He is 23 lbs, 13 oz, which I’m still calling 24 lbs. He had one mighty-full diaper that morning, and didn’t eat much breakfast. ;-) For height, he’s 32″ tall.

I was informed that his weight put him in the 90th percentile, but that just didn’t seem right, and from what I can see on the growth charts I’ve found, it puts him just below the 50th percentile. For height, he is just beneath the 75th percentile, from the looks of it.

This is what I found on about.com (this link will take you right to the growth chart calculator):

At 15 months:

  • your child is 24 pounds, and that is
at the 40th percentile for weight.
  • your child is 32 inches, and that is
at the 72th percentile for height.
  • your child has a head circumference of 19 inches, and that is
at the 77th percentile for head circumference.

The nurse didn’t write down the head circumference for me, but I vaguely remember her saying 19″, so I hope I have that right. I’ll have to check him one of these days, to make certain.

Overall, Little Dude’s update went well. The doctor seems pleased with his progress, especially since he cruised the entire exam room in the upright fashion, to show off his awesome walking skills, and babbled happily in “Little Dude-eez,” throughout the visit. When he wasn’t screaming, that is…

Yes, I had the child that began screaming the minute I began to take his clothes off. And continued through height and weight. And once again when we were back in the exam room and I was talking to the nurse.

I had to laugh, though, since the last time I took Supercat to the vet, he pulled a total attitude immediately, too. Worse than normal.

Since that was just a few weeks ago, all I could think was that the two boys have learned to communicate, and are comparing notes on doctor visits. I spent both visits trying to explain that my “son” (furry or human) are normally pleasant, sweet creatures.

However, by the time the doctor joined us, Little Dude did have a bit of a sweet side until she went to examine his ears. My possessed child returned at that moment and vowed never to let the nice lady doctor see his ears. We made it happen though, which did not make mommy (yes, that would be me) the most popular lady at the moment.

After all was said and done, we stopped by Great-Grandma on the way home – and once again showed his fabulous walking skills, and then stopped in at his Grandma Ford’s workplace, so we could say hi, and I could buy some cold medication for myself. He also managed to score a couple of nice Matchbox cars on that stop, and has played with them on the kitchen floor almost all weekend.

While he napped, I got back to the work I needed to do, so I wouldn’t fall behind from the time I took to run him to his appointment. The Hubby came home while he was sleeping, so it worked out pretty well for me to keep working, as he could amuse Little Dude once he awoke.

And that was my Friday…

I think I summarized my weekend pretty well last night, but I’m happy to say his fever has been very low-grade to non-existent all day today, and we haven’t been visited by further puke. However, Little Dude is definitely getting my cold, and still is a bit off, so my sister-in-law is going to stay with him while I run into work for a while tomorrow.

I know I’ve mentioned to many of my friends, in the past, how much I never really wanted to move back to this area. It is times like these, when I truly value having both of our families so close by, though. I so appreciate that we have family available to help out in these situations and that Little Dude has so many people that love him. I don’t have to worry or miss the meetings I need to attend, and Little Dude gets to spend his mid-day attacking Aunt Sue.

It is a win-win situation for all. Especially for Aunt Sue, who will probably score some sweet (but slobbery) baby boy kisses from my little cutie.

Looks like one healthy kid! Jack Jack like going to the doctor now, but he had his checkups that he made it known that he was not happy to be there.

Sounds like he’s doing awesome!… I hear you on the screaming. At Jared’s 2-year, and his 3-year checkups, Jared screamed like a madman the second the doctor or nurse touched him. He wouldn’t cooperate for ANYTHING. The doctor laughed and said, “You must have a hard time brushing his teeth.” and I said, “He lets me do anything, and never fusses!”… I wonder if he believed me? *lol*

Sounds like he is doing great.

Mine were always very good for the doctor until they were almost school age and able to understand that going to the doctor probably meant getting a shot and that was the end of pleasant doctor’s visits.
