Christmas Gift

January 3, 2009

What my sisters (Mrs. V & Aunt J) gave Little Dude for Christmas:

ridertoy

What Little Dude is preferring to play with:

boxed

Why do we bother to get toys for them, when they prefer the boxes? ;-)

By the way, if you notice the new header (and I may try changing it a few times in the near future), my big Christmas gift from the Hubby, in addition to replacing my laptop computer, was Photoshop Elements. Please be nice – I’m slowly learning how to use it. If anyone has advice or tips, I would love to hear them.

I love, love, love Photoshop Elements! I would be lost without it. :D

Little Dude looks sooooo cute in the box! Boxes are so much fun to play in. :D

Of course. Boxes are better than any shiny new toy. :)

I like the new header. Have fun playing with it!

I love the new header!! That statement works for me too :-)

Boxes are great for kids and cats. My cat played with three new shoe boxes I brought home yesterday for 30 minutes. Cracks me up.

    happy new year!

good luck with the new techno toy. i am sure you will have fun.

almost as much as a toddler with a new box! lol

you have to remember, to us it is a box. to him it is a castle, a palace, a plane, a ship, a firetruck and a spaceship all in one.

to us is is a box big enough for only one. to him it can hold him, his friends, his animals and any new treasures he gathers on his intergalactic journeys.

    be well,

    storm

    *laughs*

    Yes.

My favorite gift was actually a laundry basket from my grandmother. Reinforced handles and all. What do they play with EVERY day even with their newly crowned favorite toys?

    The laundry basket.

    Happy New Year. :)

Boxes are great! Give him crayons to decorate it with, or if your adventurous, some markers will do!

    Love the header, BTW.

I’m buying myself Photoshop Elements very soon – now that I have room to install it on this cleaned (i.e. virus-caused-cleaned) laptop.

    ;-)

I’ll be looking to you for tips.

LOL – it’s so true, isn’t it? We should just get a whole bunch of HUGE boxes and wrap it up for them. ;)

Hope you had a wonderful holiday season – and Happy New Year, too!!

I wanna crawl right in there with him! I used to love playing in boxes. They can be so many things!

Love PSE! Get yourself a book by Scott Kelby, he’s the expert and makes it easy. I’ve been using his books since version 4.0.

Yes, the boxes are always more fun than the toys. Go figure.

They ALWAYS prefer the boxes and wrapping paper over the actual toy. Lol! Thanks for the chuckle!

Boxes are the best! Except when they get big enough to realize that they can also destroy boxes by shredding them to pieces. Now, boxes are banned for our boy. Our daughter loves to decorate the insides of hers with stickers and markers. Such a difference!

Boxes, sticks, shoes, they never get old!

Julie – I may be asking you some PSE questions, in the future.

Veredd – Welcome back! Hope your holiday was a wonderful one!

tpgoddess0103 – Between Supercat and Little Dude, that box is getting a major workout. And frequently, they both end up chasing each other in or out of it.

storm – I used to want a box, so I could pretend it was a genie bottle. (“I Dream of Jeannie,” was one of my favorite shows – in reruns – when I was a child.)

FireMom – Welcome, and yes, laundry baskets are popular around here, too. And you have no idea how many times I’ve had to ask him to not play with the hampers full of dirty clothes.

mrsvierkant – We’ll stick with crayons, thank you. ;-) (And as we are still working on the whole, “color on paper only, not on the table, walls, toys, etc…” concept, I may wait on letting him color the box.)

hotfessional – Yay! We can struggle through it together, although I’m sure you’ll be a natural at using it.

MammaDawg – His birthday is this weekend. I’ve thought about just doing a few big boxes instead of the item we had planned.

debra – Just to warn you, I got kicked out of the box, so good luck!

Andrea – First, I may be tapping your knowledge, too. Second, I’ll have to look into the book.

kweenmama – It makes me wonder if we should hold-off on buying our kids actual toys, until they are 3 or 4… I might be on to a new movement in gifts for our kids…

Angela – Actually, he is already pulling pieces off the box, too. Yes, it must be a boy thing.

Chris – Shoes?????? I’m lost on that one…
